Web 2.0--activity complete

Wow! I actually completed the 23 Things web 2.0 discovery. I have learned lots, and have done things on the web that I never imagined. At times it was frustrating, but I learned to just sit back, relax, and take it in small pieces. Sometimes I learned that getting up and walking away from the computer was the best idea. Even though I finished all the activities, there's much more to explore.

One small thrill that left an impact on me was gong into my blog and finding comments left by other people. At first I didn't think I would ever keep up with a blog, but I just might. It could be a great way to share with friends.

Animoto

I love, love, love, Animoto. Check out my video clip at the bottom of the page. My friend Jayme moved to Oklahoma, and this was our ladies night out to say goodbye.

Printed vs. online

I would just like to say that if society ever goes away from printed text, I'm going to have to develop another hobby. Perched on this chair, trying to make myself comfortable while I do this 2.0 cruise is not nearly as much fun as curling up in my recliner with a good book (hardback, of course). I just finished Stephenie's Meyer's first "adult" book--The Host. I had a hard time getting into it, but it kinda consumed my life once I got past about 50 pages.

Photosharing, etc

I spent a lot of time on Flickr today, figuring how to upload, manipulate, and share photos. I'm still looking for the best way to share them, but that'll come with practice.

Yesterday I read a less-than-positive perspective on the "23 Things" quest. I didn't read the whole thing, but what I read was right on. Some of it is fun, some is frustrating; some seems to pertain to my life, and some I think I will never use. Oddly enough, my favorite thing so far is setting up an RSS from Topix to get local news. I don't watch the news and don't read the papers so I get all my news from web sites.

About blogs...I get sensory overload on most people's blog pages. For one thing, I often feel like I came in on the middle of a conversation. Also, many of the sites seem overcrowded to me.

Accomplishment of the day (outside of becoming a Flickrite) is that my very cool son and I changed the air filter in my car. Neither of us had ever done that before.

Web 2.0 discovery

I am now one step closer to being "with it". I set up a del.icio.us account. So far, I have one link on there, but I will soon add more. It can be found at http://del.icio.us/ldodom62

I feel better

Now that I have an Avatar that is totally me, I feel better. What I need to remember as I work my way through all this is to bite off small pieces at a time.

I want to scream

So far, I just want to scream, throw the computer out the window, and quit. Can I? No way. I didn't even realize I had created a blog because Internet Explorer keeps not responding, so it's bare bones so far. It will get better, I'm sure.
